Abstract

The construction lifecycle is a complex endeavor which incorporates multiple parties to undertake numerous tasks each with varying levels of interrelated resources. Hence, the increase of claims in today's complex projects has caused the finding of right tools to be one of the important questions in new research to manage and mitigate claims.A relative new technology that is progressively getting accepted in the construction industry is BIM, which has been playing a major role on improving different areas of construction management in which claims are a part of it. In this paper, the research method is descriptive review. To collect the desired data, some questionnaires and library studies are used. The focus of this study is on the set of BIM capabilities which has the effect of reducing the causes of claim. Finally the results showed that with the increasing complexity of projects, the effect of BIM in reducing claims becomes more dynamic. Eventually this technology has caused many of the factors affecting the incidence of claims in the construction phase to be removed at the design stage.
