Countless citizens are the audience of urban public spaces every day, and the name of urban public spaces has mental and psychological effects on them. Since the opinions of environmental psychology regarding the interaction between man and the environment are of special importance for urban designers, this article was formed with the aim of measuring the state of the mental and psychological effects of the famous streets of Yazd city. Therefore, the components that affect the public mind have been investigated in 5 squares of Yazd city. Therefore, the main question of this article is, what factor to pay attention to in the naming of urban squares can be more influential on the public mind? To answer this question, in this research, the analytical research method of semantic difference (pairwise comparison) has been used and by using it, the main component in the effect of the name of the place has been investigated from the perspective of the citizens. In the following, using a statistical sample of 384 people, a field interview has been completed in the form of semantic differentiation questionnaires, and according to the received data, points have been given to the fields and analyzed. The results of the research show that among the 13 mentioned indicators, the identity index is more important among other indicators.
